Guangzhou, China, December 6, 2024 – On December 4-5, the International Civil Aviation Organization (“ICAO”) held a grand ceremony in its birthplace in Chicago, USA, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation. EHang (Nasdaq: EH), a global leader in urban air mobility (“UAM”) technology, as the only aviation company from Asia, took the stage to share its pioneering contributions to sustainable air mobility during the event.

Under the theme "Safe Skies, Sustainable Future", the event focused on the transformative changes in global transport and addressed challenges and advances in green aviation. Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the ICAO Council, highlighted ICAO's commitment to global aviation safety and sustainability over the past 80 years. He said: "This year's theme reflects ICAO's determination to achieve 'zero fatalities' and 'net zero emissions', and provides a renewed blueprint for the sustainable future of aviation".

Mr. Conor Yang, Chief Financial Officer of EHang, was invited to participate in a high-level roundtable discussion and speak during the " The Role of Innovation in Unlocking a Sustainable Future" session. Mr Yang highlighted EHang's contributions to the UAM sector and how innovations in electric vertical take-off and landing (“eVTOL”) technologies are critical to the green development of aviation. He emphasized that eVTOL-based low-altitude air mobility will not only significantly enhance travel efficiency but also set a benchmark for the green development of air transport, thanks to its low energy consumption, low noise, and zero emissions.
As the world's first eVTOL company to receive a Type Certificate (“TC”), EHang attributes this achievement to the innovative recognition and support of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (“CAAC”) in the type certification of pilotless passenger-carrying eVTOLs. This milestone sets a significant benchmark for airworthiness certification of innovative eVTOLs in China and worldwide. Meanwhile, the Chinese government has identified low-altitude economy as a strategic emerging industry. To date, more than 30 provincial and municipal governments in China have included the low-altitude economy in their three- to five-year development plans and are actively building vertical take-off and landing platforms and other infrastructure to lay the groundwork for eVTOL commercialization.
"In the coming years, we expect eVTOLs to be used first in areas such as aerial tourism and urban shuttle, significantly improving travel efficiency and transforming urban mobility. EHang remains committed to advancing cutting-edge eVTOL technologies and working with governments and industry partners to build a safe and efficient aerial mobility ecosystem. China's UAM development is already leading the world, and we are eager to share these experiences with other countries to jointly promote the future of green aviation," said Mr. Conor Yang, Chief Financial Officer of EHang.

EHang has completed over 56,000 safe flights across 18 countries and is actively fostering cooperation with ICAO and national civil aviation authorities to drive regulatory innovation within the industry. Looking ahead, EHang will continue to lead the transformation of global civil aviation and advanced air mobility (“AAM”) through policy advocacy, international collaboration, and the development of a robust ecosystem.

In September 2019, EHang participated for the first time in the 40th Assembly of ICAO, where it presented its EH216-S at ICAO's headquarters in Montreal. In October 2022, during the 41st ICAO Assembly, the CAAC shared the special conditions for the EH216-S pilotless aircraft system and suggested that the development of such standards could serve as a valuable reference for other countries in establishing similar regulations. After receiving three airworthiness certificates, EHang was invited again in September 2024 to share its valuable experience at ICAO's first thematic seminar on advanced air mobility, contributing to the continued growth of global green aviation. EHang's repeated invitations to participate in ICAO's major events not only affirm the company's achievements in driving innovation in the global aviation sector but also further highlight its significant influence in advancing the development of the global UAM and AAM industries.
